Energize Updates is a subscription service for your appliance that provides your Barracuda product with ongoing software updates to protect you from the latest online threats. The Barracuda team continuously monitors the internet for new trends in network security threats and develops strategies to mitigate those threats.

Energize Updates deliver the latest definitions most appropriate to your product. These updates are sent out hourly or more frequently if needed, to ensure that you always have the latest and most comprehensive protection.

When does the Energize Updates subscription expire?

The Energize Updates subscription begin on the date Barracuda ships the physical product or makes available the virtual product, and expires exactly at the term length purchased from the applicable date stated above. For example, if a customer purchases a one-year Energize Update subscription that begins on April 12, that subscription will end on April 11 of the following year.

What services are included in Energize Updates?

Energize Updates include technical support, firmware maintenance, security updates, and optional participation in the Barracuda early release firmware program. Technical support includes 24x7 email and phone support. Firmware maintenance provides all firmware updates, including feature enhancements and bug fixes. Security updates patch or repair security vulnerabilities.

Can I extend my subscription if I originally purchased only one year?

You have 60 days from the date of purchase or renewal to extend your subscription.

May I transfer Energize Updates subscriptions?

No. Energize Updates subscriptions belong to the original purchaser and may not be transferred.  Customers may not re-license Barracuda software, whether on hardware or otherwise.

How do I renew my Energize Updates subscription with Barracuda?

Please contact Barracuda before the subscription expires to renew and have your serial number ready.

How do I renew my subscription if I purchased through a reseller?

Please contact your reseller before the subscription expires to coordinate your renewal.

What happens if I let my Energize Updates expire?

If your Energize Updates subscription expires, you will no longer get real-time and hourly updates or firmware. As a result, your network and users will not be protected from any future viruses, spyware, malware and spam, and you will no longer get security fixes. You will also no longer have access to Barracuda’s industry-leading technical support team.  Please note that you may also lose some or all functionality of your device if your Energize Updates subscription expires.

Can I renew after the expiration date of my Energize Updates?

Yes, you can renew at any time after the expiration date of your Energize Updates subscription. Please note all subscriptions will start from the expiration of the previous subscription term.

I renewed four months late for a one-year term but only got eight months left of my subscription. Why?

All renewal subscriptions start from the expiration date of the previous subscription term. For example, if you renew four months late, your subscription will only have eight months left. Once the subscription is renewed, you will be sent all updates, patches and firmware releases you missed during your four-month lapse. This ensures you still get what you paid for, a 12-month subscription of updates and firmware releases.

By enforcing a policy of continuous subscriptions, Barracuda can confidently stand behind the quality and performance of its products knowing they have received every security patch and firmware update released.
