The solution
Brick9 partnered with Barracuda and began building out service offerings based on:
- Barracuda Email Protection, including advanced impersonation protection and AI-powered detection of phishing attacks
- Barracuda CloudGen Firewall, which delivers advanced security and optimizes network performance
- Barracuda Intronis Backup, for seamless, highly secure, multi-tenant backup and fast, reliable recovery from data loss caused by natural disaster, server failure, accidental deletion, and ransomware
- Barracuda Security Awareness Training, which helps Brick9's customers build their userbase into a robust extra layer of security against phishing, fraud, and other types of cyberattack
Results
With Barracuda's help, Brick9 grew its managed-services customer base thanks to the ability to:
- Help prospects identify IT cost centers that they otherwise wouldn't consider, such as data center hosting costs, electric usage, annual license renewal fees, maintenance contracts, and downtime
- Position themselves as a trusted advisor and build long-term customer relationships customers in part by adding high-quality post-sale support and services to each service offering
- Demonstrate the value of their managed-services offering by providing free trials of Barracuda solutions including Email Protection, CloudGen Firewall, and Backup, and by producing detailed individualized following each trial period, clearly showing key indicators such as the number of malicious emails blocked

At the end of the trial, we run a report, which allows the client to see thousands of spam emails and viruses blocked by the software before it reached users’ inboxes. One of our largest managed services wins was with a government-run school with 12,000 users. The school was having a difficult time managing the software licenses and maintenance associated with its hosted anti-spam appliances.
