Senior Management

William "BJ" Jenkins

William "BJ" Jenkins, a 16-year IT industry veteran, has served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Barracuda since November 2012. Previously, he served as President of EMC’s Backup Recovery Systems (BRS) Division. Jenkins joined EMC in 1998 and held a wide range of EMC senior leadership roles before becoming President of the BRS Division, including serving as Chief of Staff for the division, where he led the highly successful post-merger integration of Data Domain as the foundation for the newly formed division. Under his leadership, the BRS Division contributed significantly to EMC’s growth. Over the years, he also held the positions of Senior Vice President of Global Marketing; Vice President of Telecom, Media and Entertainment and Outsourcing Sales; Vice President of Global Field Marketing and Director of Operations Global Channels. Jenkins is a graduate of the University of Illinois, where he earned a B.S. degree in general engineering, and received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Michael Perone

As Co-Founder, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Barracuda, Michael Perone is responsible for worldwide communications and marketing strategies, including corporate brand management and identity. He has more than 25 years of experience in the high-tech industry, and was a pioneer in delivering free Internet access to users worldwide. Perone co-founded and served as President and Board Member for Address.com, a leading free email and Internet access service that reached more than 3.5 million users (acquired by WhitePages). He also co-founded Spinway Inc. (acquired by Kmart Corporation). Additionally, Perone co-founded Affinity Path, a private-label ISP that powered and supported thousands of ISPs throughout North America. He also has held systems engineering positions with GE Aerospace. In 2007, he was named by Ernst & Young a “Technology Entrepreneur of the Year for Northern California” award recipient and today serves on the Board of Directors of Perch, the first hands-free video communication app designed to bring families together regardless of where they are located.

Zachary Levow

Zachary Levow is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Barracuda and has served on Barracuda’s Board since inception of the company. Levow leads the innovation and development of Barracuda’s security and storage solutions. Prior to Barracuda, Levow was Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer for Affinity Path, a self-service, private label and profitable DSL/dial-up ISP. Prior to Affinity Path, he was Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Spinway Inc., which was acquired by Kmart Corporation. During his tenure at Spinway, Levow was the lead developer of the Spinway architecture. Levow has worked as a software development and architectural software design consultant for clients such as Sun Microsystems, Computer Sciences Corporation, Cadence Design Systems, and Motorola Inc. He received a B.S. in mathematics and computer science from Carnegie Mellon University.

David Faugno

David Faugno brings more than 20 years of global financial and business operations experience across a number of technology sectors to his role as Chief Financial Officer at Barracuda, where he has served since March 2006. He previously served as Director of Corporate Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions at Cisco Systems Inc., where he supported the acquisition and integration of more than 20 companies with more than $9 billion in transaction value. Prior to that, he was Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Operations of Actona Technologies Inc., a leading wide area storage vendor that was acquired by Cisco. Faugno also served as Chief Financial Officer of Soltima Inc., a wireless infrastructure software company. In his eight years with AT&T, he held a variety of financial, sales and operations roles, including Chief Financial Officer of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, in which he restructured AT&T's portfolio of investments and joint ventures in the region. Faugno holds a B.S. in accounting from Rutgers University and an Executive MBA from Duke University.

Stephen Pao

Stephen Pao serves as General Manager, Security Business, at Barracuda Networks, where he is responsible for strategic product direction, definition, program management, and development for all of the company's security products. The Security Business brings together Barracuda’s content security, network security, and application security product portfolio, as well as the Barracuda Central content team. He has more than 20 years of experience in high growth technology companies based in both Seattle and the Bay Area. Prior to joining Barracuda, Pao led program management and engineering efforts at All Star Directories, a leading Internet lead generation provider in Washington. Before All Star, he held Vice President of Marketing positions at AskMe Corporation, a leading enterprise knowledge management software provider, and at Latitude Communications (acquired by Cisco Systems), a leading voice and Web conferencing provider. He also held product management positions at Visioneer (acquired by Nuance), where he launched the award-winning PaperPort product and at Oracle Corporation where he led product management for Oracle’s line of decision support products. Pao earned his B.S and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Rod Mathews

Rod Mathews serves as General Manager, Storage Business, and Vice President, Business Development, for Barracuda Networks. As GM Storage, he directs strategic product direction and development for all storage-related offerings, including Barracuda's backup and archiving products, as well as Copy (copy.com), Barracuda's new cloud file syncing and sharing service and SignNow (signnow.com), Barracuda new eSignature service. As VP Business Development, he is responsible for the initiation and nurturing of new strategic technology partnerships, alliances and investments. Prior to joining Barracuda, he served as Senior Director of Business Development for the Backup Recovery Systems division at EMC, where he led strategic initiatives and acquisition activities. Previously, Mathews led business development for Data Domain, prior to its acquisition by EMC, where he was responsible for leveraging alliances into revenue growth and for developing new routes to market in multiple geographies worldwide. Mathews has 20 years of experience in the high-tech industry, spanning product management, product marketing, engineering operations and investor relations positions held at leading companies including Network Appliance, Brocade Communications Systems, Enfish Technology, CyberMedia, and Quarterdeck. Mathews earned his bachelor of music degree from The Juilliard School.

Michael Hughes

As Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Barracuda, Michael Hughes is responsible for the strategy, direction and execution of global sales and sales operations for the company’s diverse product portfolio. Since taking on this role in 2010, he has successfully grown revenue rapidly across multiple product lines. During his tenure, he built Enterprise, Channel, Commercial and Specialist Sales teams, and helped build a culture of execution and accountability. He previously served as Barracuda’s Vice President of EMEA Sales. Prior to joining Barracuda, he was the Vice President of Sales for Asempra Technologies, a data protection innovator, where he consistently grew revenue over his tenure until Asempra was acquired by BakBone. Hughes also served as a Sales and Business Development leader in Europe and America for McDATA Corporation (acquired by Brocade), Invio Software (acquired by Symantec), and publicly-traded Marimba (later acquired by BMC). He earned a B.S. in Marketing from Miami University and an M.B.A. from University of Michigan.

Marc Wolfe

Marc Wolfe serves as Vice President of Marketing for Barracuda Networks. In this role, he is responsible for global marketing strategy and execution; corporate branding, media development, and partner programs. Prior to joining Barracuda in 2006, he served as Director of Marketing and Operations at a Los Angeles-headquartered law firm, where he was instrumental in growing the company from startup to national prominence. Previously, Wolfe served as Vice President of Marketing for ADAPT Software Applications, where he was responsible for worldwide marketing and channel development. Wolfe has 23 years of experience in various marketing and operations leadership capacities with Southland Micro Systems, Magic Software Enterprises, The Walt Disney Company and OMNIVAR. Wolfe earned his bachelor of arts degree in Mass Communications from Arizona State University.

Blair Hankins

Blair Hankins serves as VP Engineering at Barracuda Networks, where he is responsible for the Hardware, Platform, Common Technology, and Tools to enable Barracuda’s full security and storage product line. In addition, his team is responsible for executing a consistent product release process for all Barracuda products. Hankins brings more than 20 years of experience in software development, technical product management and marketing to this role. Prior to joining Barracuda, he served as Senior Vice President of Engineering at Intellisync (acquired by Nokia), responsible for delivering wireless messaging products that offered the best possible user experience to mobile professionals. Prior to Intellisync, he was the Vice President of Engineering for Witness Systems Inc., a leading provider of workforce optimization software for call centers. As an executive at IBM, he was responsible for the market planning, business strategy, and go-to-market strategy for IBM's portfolio of messaging products including Notes, Domino, iNotes, and the Lotus mobile and wireless product offerings. Hankins earned a B.S. in mathematics at University of Maryland and an M.S. in mathematics from Ohio State University.

Hossein Ghazizadeh

As Vice President of Technical Support, Hossein Ghazizadeh leads a global team of 250 support engineers dedicated to helping customers maximize the value of their Barracuda products. In his previous role as Director of Technical Support, Ghazizadeh successfully developed the company's strategy for improving customer and partner satisfaction. In 2013, his team was awarded the SC Magazine Excellence Award for Best Customer Service and Support. Prior to joining Barracuda, he held management positions within technical support at companies such as Savvis Communication, Cable & Wireless (formerly Exodus Communications), and National Integration Technology. He earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from Northern Arizona University and an associate’s degree in computer science from CTA.

Ken Martin

Ken Martin serves as VP Worldwide Manufacturing Operations for Barracuda. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring a world-class operation with timely response to both customer orders and engineering needs. He joined the company in 2006, seamlessly growing manufacturing and logistics from running two product lines to more than 12 unique product lines. Martin has 20+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, operations, logistics and facilities, in both contract manufacturing and OEM environments. Prior to joining Barracuda, he was with Aspect Communications where he began as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer and was promoted through and ultimately achieved the position of Director of Manufacturing Operations and Engineering. He also worked at Harmonic Lightwaves and Symtron Corporation. Martin received a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from San Jose State University. Additionally, he served in the United States Army Corp of Engineers, achieving the rank of Captain.

Diane Honda

Diane Honda serves as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Barracuda and oversees worldwide legal matters including intellectual property, transactions, subsidiary management, employment, regulatory compliance, strategic alliances and litigation. Prior to Barracuda, Ms. Honda was Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Extreme Networks, a publicly traded network infrastructure provider. Prior to Extreme Networks, Ms. Honda held senior legal leadership positions at both public and private technology companies. She started her career as a software engineer at Hewlett Packard, and in addition to her legal roles, has held management positions in product development, customer support, and information technology. Ms. Honda holds a J.D. from Santa Clara Law School (cum laude) and a B.S in Applied Math Computer Science and Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon.

Deb Hoffman

Debra E. Hoffman serves as Vice President of Human Resources for Barracuda Networks. In this role, she is responsible for global human resources operations, including talent acquisition and management, compensation and equity, workforce planning, and organizational development. Prior to joining Barracuda, she served as Senior Director of Human Resources for EMC's Backup Recovery Systems (BRS) Division, where she led a team of 26 human resources professionals and oversaw recruiting efforts for BRS on a global basis, resulting in over 1000 new hires in both 2011 and 2012. Hoffman joined EMC following the 2009 acquisition of Data Domain, where she served as Director of Human Resources as the company grew from 450 to 900 employees. Prior to that, she held a variety of sales and human resources leadership positions with Xilinx Corporation, Intel and Wyse. Hoffman earned her bachelor of science degree inOrganizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco.

Jeffry Allen

Jeffry Allen has served on the Barracuda Board of Directors since June 2007. Prior to his role on the board, Jeffry Allen was the Executive Vice President of Business Operations at NetApp. He managed manufacturing operations and took responsibility for content delivery and NearStore business lines as well as strategic initiatives for the SAN market. Allen joined the company in 1996 as CFO and Vice President of Finance and Operations. From July 1990 through December 1996, Allen was responsible for various operations and manufacturing roles at SynOptics Communications, Inc., a computer communications company, and subsequently at Bay Networks, the company created via the merger of SynOptics and Wellfleet Communications, Inc. Previously, Allen had a 17-year career at Hewlett-Packard Company, where he served in a variety of financial, information systems, and financial management positions, including controller for the Information Networks Group. Allen holds a B.S. degree in accounting from San Diego State University.

Dean Drako

Dean Drako co-founded Barracuda in 2003, and served as the company’s President, CEO and Chairman from its inception through July 2012. Drako was instrumental in expanding the company from a single-product anti-spam vendor to an industry leader in security, networking and storage solutions. Since July 2012, Drako has served as President and CEO of Eagle Eye Networks, a cloud-based video security company. Prior to Barracuda, he founded Boldfish, a leading provider of enterprise messaging solutions (acquired by Siebel Systems). Before Boldfish, he was founder, president and CEO of Design Acceleration Inc. (DAI), maker of superior design analysis and verification tools (acquired by Cadence Design Systems). Drako has served as an entrepreneur in residence for SoftBank Venture Capital as well as vice president of product engineering at the 3DO Company. Drako holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and an M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

David Golob

David Golob has served on the Barracuda Board of Directors since December 2005. He joined Francisco Partners as a Partner in 2001 and focuses primarily on investments in the software segment. Prior to joining Francisco Partners, Golob was a Managing Director with Tiger Management, where he was co-head of the global technology group. He spent seven years as a private equity investor focused on the software industry at General Atlantic Partners and Sutter Hill Ventures. Earlier in his career, he was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and a Product Manager with Newport Systems Solutions, Inc. (acquired by Cisco). Golob holds an A.B. from Harvard College, suma cumlaude, and an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Gordon Stitt

Gordon Stitt has served on the Barracuda Board of Directors since June 2007. Stitt is currently Chief Executive Officer of Nebula, Inc., a provider of hardware and software solutions that enable large private cloud computing solutions. Prior to Nebula, he co-founded Extreme Networks, and served as president and CEO since the company's inception in 1996. Prior to Extreme Networks, Stitt co-founded Network Peripherals and served as Vice President of Marketing and Vice President and General Manager of the OEM Business Unit. He also held executive positions in corporate marketing at Sun Microsystems and was Director of Marketing and Sales at Ven-Tel. Stitt holds an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business, U.C. Berkeley and a B.S. degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Santa Clara University.

Jim Goetz

Jim Goetz has served on the Barracuda Board of Directors since July 2009. Goetz has been a managing member of Sequoia Capital Operations, LLC, a venture capital firm, since June 2005. His current areas of interest include mobile and enterprise companies. He has helped create and grow a number of technology companies and product lines to market leading positions both as an entrepreneur and as an investor. In 1996, he co-founded VitalSigns Software (ALU) where he assembled and led the team that pioneered end-user performance management with Net.Medic and application performance market with VitalSuite. Prior to VitalSigns, Geotz was the Vice President of Network Management for Bay Networks (Synoptics). He has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

Kevin B. Thompson

Kevin B. Thompson has served on the Barracuda Board of Directors since September 2013. Since February 2010, Thompson has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of SolarWinds. Prior to being named President and Chief Executive Officer, Thompson previously held the positions of Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, Chief Operating Officer, and President. Prior to joining SolarWinds, Thompson was Chief Financial Officer of Surgient, Inc., a software company, from November and was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at SAS Institute, a business intelligence software company. Thompson also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Red Hat, Inc., an enterprise software company. Thompson holds a B.B.A. from the University of Oklahoma.

Dipanjan Deb

Dipanjan Deb has served as one of our directors since October 2013. Mr. Deb co-founded Francisco Partners, a private equity firm, and has been a Partner since its founding in August 1999 and has served as Managing Partner since August 2005. Prior to co-founding Francisco Partners, Mr. Deb worked at TPG Capital, a private equity firm, McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm, and Robertson, Stephens & Company, a technology-focused investment bank. Mr. Deb currently serves on the board of directors of several privately held companies. Mr. Deb holds a B.S. degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.B.A. degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
