How Can the customer resolve message fails to retrieve with “ACSS_UPDATE_SEARCH_FAILED” error

Scope:
ArchiveOne Enterprise, v6.0 or later.

Answer:
Retrieving an archived message fails via the Quick Link Client. The following error can be seen in trace:
InterpretWebServiceResponse:Error message 'Failed to find message in archive with AOne Server Status of ACSS_UPDATE_SEARCH_FAILED.'RetrieveMessage returned status 35

The following can be seen in the service trace:
GetCurrentMasterIndexNumber: failed to get master index number file because 'E:\Archive One\Repositories\Year_2007\IndexE:\Archive One\Repositories\Year_2007\Index\Updates\MasterNumber.a1i contains an incorrect path.'

ROOT CAUSE
The Updates directory location is incorrectly defined in the repository definition file.

RESOLUTION
To resolve the incorrect path in the repository definition,

  1. Browse to: \\Configuration_server\Add-ins\AOnePol\Repositories
  2. Create a backup copy of the .C2C for the repository under investigation (e.g. Year_2007.c2c), in case you need to revert any changes.
  3. Open the .C2C file in Notepad.
  4. Find the line starting: DirForUpdatesIndex=
  5. Edit the file path so that it points to a valid location on disk. e.g. in the above example, the original line is:
    DirForUpdatesIndex=E:\Archive One\Repositories\Year_2007\IndexE:\Archive One\Repositories\Year_2007\Index\Updates
    This should be updated to:
    DirForUpdatesIndex=E:\Archive One\Repositories\Year_2007\Index\Updates
  6. Save the file.
Retest the retrieval to ensure that the issue is now resolved.
