PST Enterprise preinstaller fails to install require IIS roles

Answer:

SYMPTOMS

When running the PST Enterprise pre-installer, the automated installation of the required IIS roles fails. The PSTEnterprise_PreInstall.log shows the following:

Updating IIS feature

All Features are not installed

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool

Version: 6.3.9600.17031

Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031

Enabling feature(s)

Error: 0x800f0906

The source files could not be downloaded.

Use the "source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=243077.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

Updating IIS feature failed

ROOT CAUSE

The install files for the Windows Features required are not in the local cache on the server.

RESOLUTION

You should install the required IIS features manually from Server Manager or Power Shell, specifying the Windows Server source image so that the necessary files can be accessed.
