What SSL certificate formats are compatible with my Barracuda Networks product?

Solution: #00004150

Scope:

This solution applies to all Barracuda Networks products.

Answer:
Many CA vendors will generate an SSL certificate for most common HTTP service implementations, and present a list of the varieties they support. If the vendor you have selected does not offer a Barracuda Networks specific option select a certificate in PEM format. This will be compatible with all Barracuda Networks products.

CA vendors might refer to PEM format certificates using the names of common software packages that require them, such Apache or OpenSSL, or by the file name extension commonly used to distribute them, such as .crt, .pem, or .txt. Regardless of how it is named, once you?ve received the signed certificate, be sure it is a readable text file with content similar to the following (omitting the ellipsis):

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----

MIIE0jCCA7qgAwIBAgIHBBjzbHHd5DANBgkqhkiG9w0BAQUFADCByjELMAkGA1UE

BhMCVVMxEDAOBgNVBAgTB0FyaXpvbmExEzARBgNVBAcTClNjb3R0c2RhbGUxGjAY

...

LTlS6cPIn7fM/KwmTaJ/miqZ7DFGislazOAwelMXvW/9RetE3yQ=

-----END CERTIFICATE-----

If you see several lines of incomprehensible text bounded by BEGIN and END delimiters, you can be fairly confident you have a PEM formatted SSL certificate.
