Why do certain messages in the message log of my Email Security Gateway have spam scores of -1001.00?

All Email Security Gateways, all firmware revisions.

Users of the Email Security Gateway may find that some messages are assigned a score of -1001.00 with the reason of "Message Size." A large message size is a leading indicator that a message is not spam; spammers have an empirically demonstrated interest in distributing as many messages as possible in a circumscribed amount of time.

As a result, Barracuda has designed the Email Security Gateway to assign a message with a size equal to or greater than 150 kilobytes a large negative score to ensure that other scores assigned by the application of other spam rules do not affect its ultimate delivery.
