Why won't some or all of my Barracuda Networks product's Energize Updates download properly?

Scope:
All Barracuda Networks products, all firmware versions.

Answer:
The Barracuda Networks product must have either port 80 or port 8000 access to the Internet in order to access our update servers and download the latest Energize Updates. If the Barracuda unit is behind a firewall or web filter device, these ports must be allowed so that the Barracuda unit is able to download your updates on a regular basis.
