Why are my clustered Email Security Gateways behaving so slowly after upgrading to the 3.5 firmware?
All clustered Barracuda Spam Firewalls that have recently upgraded to firmware version 3.5, models 400 and above.
When clustered Barracuda Spam Firewalls using per-user quarantine inboxes are upgraded to firmware version 3.5, they re-synchronize all of their information. In large clusters, or in clusters with a particularly large number of stored quarantine e-mails, or in clusters with particularly large stored quarantine e-mails (large attachments, etc.), this can take a long time. In some cases, hundreds of gigs of data in total must be transferred across the network, and in an in-production environment, this can sometimes take days or weeks to complete. If you notice a high CPU load, sluggish interface, or other symptoms on your clustered Spam Firewalls after upgrading to 3.5, this is a possible reason. This syncing process is a lower priority than the act of processing mail, so mail production should never be affected.
