How do I set up SNMP monitoring on my Barracuda Networks product?

Scope:
This solution applies to all firmware versions of the following devices:

  • Barracuda Spam Firewall models 400 and above
  • Barracuda Web Filter models 410 and above,
  • Barracuda Load Balancer models 340 and above
  • Barracuda Link Balancers and Web Application Firewalls

Answer:
A SNMP manager can be used to monitor certain statistical information on most Barracuda Networks products (RAID status, CPU load, etc.). This is typically a client application running on another server that is used to monitor the status of devices on a network.

To enable SNMP monitoring on your Barracuda Networks product, the IP address of the SNMP manager that will be querying the Barracuda will need to be added to the Barracuda's Allowed SNMP and API IP/Range list. This list is located on the Basic > Administration page of the Barracuda's web interface.

You must ensure the netmask is correct as well.
When the IP address of the SNMP manager is present in the Allowed SNMP and API IP/Range list, the SNMP Manager will be able to request information from the Barracuda. The Barracuda communicates SNMP information using a community string of public.
