History of Experience with Barracuda’s Solutions
FineLine started using Barracuda’s products with the Barracuda Spam Firewall to protect and manage their Exchange mail server in the US. Over the years, they expanded their usage of Barracuda’s range of products to include the Barracuda Load Balancer ADC and Barracuda Message Archiver to strengthen their application delivery, storage solution, and network security. FineLine chose Barracuda for its reputation as one of the leaders in network defense technologies. Other factors that led FineLine to select Barracuda as their network service provider include the quality of Barracuda’s products, the cost-effectiveness of its solutions, and Barracuda’s customer service efficiency and expertise.
Protecting Data Locally and Overseas
In FineLine’s business, online security and data protection are critical. When FineLine was looking to implement a robust firewall system that could be easily deployed across their global offices (in the US, Hong Kong, and China) for their security-critical network environment, they turned to Barracuda for assistance. FineLine required a solution that could protect against viruses and spam, while effectively securing data across their multiple offices around the world, quickly and efficiently.
Based on their requirements and the company’s positive experience with Barracuda, FineLine deployed the Barracuda CloudGen Firwall F300 for use in their US Headquarters in Norcross, Georgia. One of the features of the Barracuda CloudGen Firwall that impressed FineLine was the ability to allow the network administrator to centrally manage and monitor all remote devices. As part of FineLine’s requirements, the solution they chose had to be able to be configured from their IT department at the company’s HQ and deployed to the remote facilities as part of the company’s turnkey solution. The WAN Optimization built in the Barracuda CloudGen Firwall significantly reduces site-to-site VPN network traffic between different offices.
“We were very impressed with the Barracuda CloudGen Firwall. The user interface was very intuitive and user-friendly, and our IT Manager was particularly impressed with its navigation. Simon Jone, Director of IT Operation, FineLine Technologies.
Ease of Set up with Minimal Business Downtime
Amazed with the effectiveness of the Barracuda CloudGen Firwall at their headquarters, FineLine expanded its usage in all of their remote facilities including their offices in California, USA and in the Asia-Pacific region—Hong Kong and Shenzhen. “Despite the geographical spread, the set up was a breeze and we were able to get the firewalls set up and operational without much downtime to our business operations. We now have in place a highly secure network which is fundamental for our business,” says Jone.
When FineLine next trialed the Barracuda CloudGen Firwall at their new office in California, they used a VPN tunnel to connect their California office to the next-generation firewall from their main headquarters. The company was able to get both the remote site and the VPN connection up and running very quickly. It was also quite easy for the company to set up the Barracuda CloudGen Firwall in both the Hong Kong and Shenzhen office locations, with minimal assistance from Barracuda.

To ensure that the IT Administrators were able to effectively utilize the Barracuda CloudGen Firwall, Barracuda conducted online trainings, Web seminars, and remained connected to FineLine through a comprehensive global support network of Barracuda experts that was available 24/7. FineLine’s intention of ensuring the online protection and security of their data was achieved with the Barracuda CloudGen Firwall.
