Barracuda NextGen Firewall F
The Solution for Securing Your Internet of Things and Machine-to-Machine Communications
The sheer number and variety of devices coming online with the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT) gives hackers and state-sponsored cyber-terrorists a target-rich environment. Managing and securing the ever-growing number of internet connected remote devices is posing new challenges to organizations of all sizes.
Consider the scale and the potential cost of getting security wrong: Industrial Control Systems (ICS), ATMs, vending machines, HVAC equipment, cold storage and refrigeration systems, water and sewage treatment, public transportation, armored cars, even traffic control and digital signage equipment are all now connected to the internet. By definition, each and every one of them is exposed to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
Barracuda NextGen Firewall F-Series is a family of highly secure, small form-factor devices for advanced network security, encrypted communications, and cost-effective connectivity. Full integration into the Barracuda NextGen Control Center architecture guarantees hassle-free centralized management for tens of thousands of remote devices.
Barracuda Network’s security and connectivity solutions for IoT and ICS provide:
NextGen Firewall Security
Advanced security functions include application enforcement, IPS, URL filtering, antivirus, sandboxing (ATP), and even denial-of-service protection. These functions are handeled centrally on the Secure Access Concentrator (SAC).
Quick and Easy Deployment
To make the installation and setup process as efficient as possible, the appliances can be shipped directly to the intended remote location without the need for specialized IT personnel to be present on-site. The central IT department can quickly create a configuration file using the Barracuda NextGen Control Center’s configuration wizard. Then, just copy the configuration file to the firewall mass storage via USB and reboot the appliance.
Simple, Powerful Central Management
Configuring and maintaining multiple security appliances can be a complicated and time-consuming task. For IoT environments, the F-Series is fully configurable via a template-based management system that is tightly integrated with the central management capabilities of NextGen Control Center. Once a template is changed, Barracuda NextGen Firewall appliances linked to this template are automatically updated within seconds.
The “Automatic Network Setup” takes care of cumbersome setup and routing configurations. Administrators define a single, large network that is automatically partitioned into smaller subnets, which, in turn, are then automatically assigned to the remote appliances.
Easily Scales to Tens of Thousands of Remote Locations
The encrypted connection between the NextGen Firewall security appliance and the data center is established with Barracuda’s proprietary, enhanced IPsec protocol TINA. Without relinquishing any security aspects, TINA is significantly more resilient and effective than most competitive VPN solutions. Central management scales to tens of thousands of remote locations by using a three-tiered management and load-share approach:
