Campbell, Calif. (September 30, 2014) – Barracuda Networks, Inc. (NYSE: CUDA), a leading provider of cloud-connected security and storage solutions, today announced the latest release of Barracuda Spam Firewall version 6.1, which offers bulk email categorization and extended malware protection, is now available in Microsoft Azure, extending its security suite on the public cloud platform.
Barracuda Spam Firewall provides comprehensive email content security functionality, including advanced spam and virus blocking, data protection, DoS prevention, email continuity, encryption, and policy management – at one affordable price. The solution now can be deployed in Microsoft Azure to provide email management and security for organizations utilizing Microsoft Office 365. In addition to general email management capabilities, the Barracuda Spam Firewall in Azure affords administrators the ability to customize email encryption policies, configure data leak prevention rules, and customize different delivery actions for various categories of mail from bulk email senders.
“As a long-time Barracuda customer, I can speak first hand to the continual improvements the company makes to its products,” said Casey Bourbonnais, chief information officer at The Funk Companies. “Upgrading to the latest version of the Barracuda Spam Firewall has improved our ability to maintain mailbox integrity, particularly with the new Bulk Email Categorization feature that provides an additional layer of control over ambiguous marketing emails.”
Barracuda Spam Firewall version 6.1 provides added granular control over email policies, as well as added spam and virus protection for new threat variants. Highlights of the new features include:
- Bulk Email Categorization –With the latest version of the Barracuda Spam Firewall, administrators now can further organize or block incoming email into common bulk categories such as Transactional, Corporate and Marketing, each of which can have a different delivery action associated with it. This new categorization is particularly useful for managing bulk emailers that send both transactional and marketing emails, such as large online retailers.
- Extended Malware Protection and Antivirus – The Barracuda Spam Firewall now incorporates an additional layer for advanced malware scanning for advanced persistent threats (APTs) and other targeted attacks. This newly integrated cloud-based sandbox, powered by full-system emulation, inspects objects for unknown malware crafted to evade detection by traditional security systems and provides protection against zero-hour malware. Additionally, the latest version also extends the antivirus scanning capabilities with an additional layer of signatures from the Barracuda threat intelligence database.
