blinkbox Selects Barracuda Web Application Firewall and Microsoft Azure for Secure and Cost-effective Move to the Cloud

Campbell, CA, July 15, 2014 – Tesco-owned movie and TV streaming service, blinkbox has selected Microsoft Azure’s cloud, supported by the Barracuda Web Application Firewall, to securely move its applications to the cloud. The case study is available at

With a catalogue of more than 20,000 movies and TV episodes, blinkbox was looking for an enterprise-sized data center that offered high-security, flexibility and high-speed bandwidth. With its number of customers and available titles constantly growing, application availability and security are critical in order to maintain customer confidence in the service.

“At blinkbox, the application is our business,” said Sarju Mashru, principal IT operations engineer lead at blinkbox. “It absolutely has to be available, secure, and provide a seamless user experience – and the combination of the Barracuda Web Application Firewall and Microsoft Azure will provide blinkbox with a platform to deliver a superior solution to respond to customers needs.”

Commenting on the services that blinkbox will be able to offer its customers once the Microsoft Azure and Barracuda Web Application Firewall are in place, Mashru continued, “Microsoft Azure and the Barracuda Web Application Firewall provide everything that our company requires. Additional layers of security from the Barracuda Web Application Firewall ensure that we can operate as securely as possible.”

“Security is a key requirement as customers look to move their applications to the cloud,” said Michael Hughes, SVP Worldwide Sales at Barracuda. “Through strategic relationships like ours with Microsoft Azure, we aim to help companies make that move confidently.”
