APN Security Competency
APN Security Competency is a certification given by Amazon Web Services (AWS) to products within the Amazon Partner Network (APN) that meet an extensive set of requirements, including support for auto scaling, bootstrapping, Cloud Formation Templates. Products having APN Security Competency certification enable users to deploy a comprehensive security architecture that seamlessly connects cloud and on-premises environments.
Certified products fall into one of the following categories:
- Infrastructure security
- Access and control
- Logging and monitoring
- Configuration and vulnerability analysis
- Data protection
- Cloud security
- Consulting services
If you are operating applications within the AWS cloud, it is important to follow best practices recommended by AWS for securing your applications and data. Software having certified products such as Barracuda Networks, receive close technical support from AWS including access to private beta programs, specialized training, and early access to AWS roadmap planning. AWS will only promote security products that have earned the APN Security Competency certification.
When a product achieves this competency certification, it means that it has been pre-qualified by AWS as an elite, top-tier product that’s well architected for the AWS platform. The product must have a list of public and non-public references, and it undergoes an extensive and stringent product review by a team of AWS Solution Architects. Certified products must meet an extensive set of AWS requirements, including support for auto scaling, bootstrapping, cloud formation templates.
The Barracuda Web Application Firewall has been issued the APN Security Competency, and certification is pending for the Barracuda NextGen Firewall. This attests to the fact that both these products are designed to integrate fully with the AWS infrastructure, supporting the many features of AWS that enable advanced automation and flexibility in deployment and configuration.
