Virtualize with Barracuda

I wanted to spend a few minutes today talking about the Barracuda Vx product line.

Most of the Barracuda Networks products are available as virtual machines. Check them out:

* Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall Vx

* Barracuda Web Filter Vx

* Barracuda NG Firewall Vx

* Barracuda Web Application Firewall Vx

* Barracuda SSL VPN Vx

* Barracuda Load Balancer ADC Vx

Why is this cool? Because it gives you everything you need to decouple your network control software from your hardware. It allows you to fully leverage the benefits of a virtualized network infrastructure. For example,

* A smaller datacenter footprint: Virtualization can result in significant savings in real estate and energy costs. Fewer servers and network devices means you don’t need to spend as much money in electrical and cooling. You also don’t need to lease as much room to house your equipment. Because of these savings, virtualization is an important piece of ‘going green.’

* Faster provisioning: Virtual appliances are hardware independent and can be brought online as soon as a server is available. No need to wait for the device to be shipped. Easier disaster recovery is a related benefit.

* Easier testing: Virtual appliances make it easy to test deployments and configuration prior to dropping a unit into production. It takes minimal hardware to configure a test environment prior to deployment.

* Scalability: Virtual infrastructures are usually easier to scale, making virtualization attractive to growing organizations.

If you are interested in checking out our virtual devices, you can visit their product pages (linked above) to download a 30 day demo. And be sure to come back tomorrow so we can tell you about something really cool that will help you take your virtualized network to the next level.
